ENCAUSTIC

The author uses her unique worldview in the creation of encaustic collages. The technique of encaustics is thousands of years old and was used by the ancient Egyptians. It involves working with colored beeswaxes, which the author melts with a special iron and applies to chalk paper. Spreading hot waxes, which smell like honey, is a pleasant form of meditation. From the colored areas, she afterwards cuts out various signs, scripts, and structures, often inspired by the history of art. These are then glued into compositions, based on color and light contrasts.
